Who needs to study and why ?

This book focuses on the primary topics of the curriculum of the Statistics Undergraduate degree programs of India. It covers basic theoretical portions of Mathematical Statistics related to the syllabus of most Indian universities and institutes offering an Undergraduate Statistics program. Solid and sturdy explanations with enormous problems and solution fortify the needs of this book to students. The book will come in handy to all the fellow beginners starting their journey in Statistics.
Those who are preparing for Indian Statistical Service Examination (ISS), CUCET or other entrance examinations of M.Sc. in statistics can take this book as a reference. All topics of Mathematical Statistics in a single diary gives the unique identity of this book.

Contents :

The first chapter of this book focuses on an incisive and logical development of the subject. The second chapter deals with frequency distributions, measures of central tendency, dispersion and spread. Probability, developed with the application of set theory gets detailed discussion. Large number theorems have been chalked out with set theory approach. Applications of Probability are also well discussed.

The chapters containing Mathematical Expectation and theoretical distributions of Discrete and Continuous type have been delivered with some very good illustrations and examples. Integration of latest statistical ideas is a bonus to the readers!

The chapters on Correlation, Regression and Bivariate Normal Distribution has been treated with the concepts of Mathematical Expectation. Chapter thirteen and fourteen introduces various Sampling Distributions and numerous test of significance that are derivable from them.

Concepts of Statistical Inference (Theory of Estimation and Hypothesis Testing) have been drafted out in the following chapters. Discussion of some well known Numerical methods for the purpose of interpolation, differentiation, integration and solving transcendental equations have also been integrated with this book.

All the topics in this book have been presented with due care. Questions and numerical problems given at the end of each chapter requires mindful use of concepts for getting solutions. Chapters also contain large numbers of worked out problems drawn from the past question papers of various universities.

It can be assured that this book will prove itself to be of great utility to the students for building the primary concepts in Statistics as well as making them able enough to thoughtfully apply those concepts into solving numerical problems.
